THE ban on interstate travel will be eased as the Hari Raya season comes to an end, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said from Monday, interstate travel for work, medical and emergency reasons will be allowed.
“The ministerial committee today decided to provide leeway and allow interstate travel for emergency purposes, such as deaths and medical cases.
“The same applies to those who need to travel for work. For example, someone who lives in Seremban and works in Putrajaya,” he told the daily press conference on the Covid-19 situation in the country.
On May 21, Ismail said interstate travel has been banned for everyone.
He said the decision was made after people thronged police stations to apply for permission to return to their hometowns ahead of the Hari Raya weekend.
He also said vehicles that attempted to cross state borders will not only be asked to turn back but will also be issued with RN1,000 compound immediately at the roadblock. β May 30, 2020.
