THE suspension of construction works on the 350km Kuala Lumpur-Singapore High-Speed Rail (HSR) may be extended beyond May 31.
“Malaysia asked to extend the suspension period to allow both sides to discuss the changes they have in mind,” said Singaporean Transport Minister Khaw Boon Wan in a Facebook post today.
“We are giving their request serious consideration.”
Previously, both governments agreed to suspend HSR’s construction till the end of this month, to find the best way forward for the project.
Putrajaya has been reviewing the project with MyHSR Corp to identify cost-reduction options, such as optimising the alignment, station locations and business model. – Bernama, May 29, 2020.
