AFTER a record low of 10 new coronavirus cases yesterday, the past 24 hours saw a spike to 103, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
“The surge in new cases today is due to infections involving foreigners,” the director-general of health told a daily press conference on Covid-19 in Putrajaya.
He said 84 of the new cases are foreigners, with 53 linked to a factory in Pedas, Negri Sembilan, and 24 from a new cluster traced to a cleaning company.
He said there are seven imported infections, and 12 local transmissions involving Malaysians.
The fresh infections take the national toll to 7,732, of which 1,382 are active cases.
Dr Noor Hisham said another 66 patients have been discharged, bringing total recoveries to 6,235.
With no new fatalities, the death toll remains 115.
Eight patients are in intensive care, two of whom are on ventilators. – May 29, 2020.
