A TOTAL of 151 contract cleaners working at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport have undergone Covid-19 screening, said Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB).
“As part of our efforts to continuously maintain safety at the airport, we had ensured that all foreign workers in KUL had been sent to undergo screening for Covid-19 infection,” the airport operator told The Malaysian Insight.
“A total of 151 workers from cleaning companies have gone through the screening. We have yet to receive the screening results from the Health Ministry.”
MAHB said this when asked to verify a message circulating on WhatsApp which claims that 24 Bangladeshi cleaners at the airport’s main terminal tested positive for the coronavirus.
The message said a total of 120 workers under two companies contracted to carry out cleaning work at the airport’s main terminal building went through screening at a private clinic.
They also allegedly share lodgings in Banting, Selangor.
Foreign workers are required to undergo screening for the virus.
Malaysia yesterday registered a record low of 10 new cases, as well as 86 recoveries.
The total infections stand at 7,629, while 115 have died so far. – May 29, 2020.
