AUDITOR-GENERAL Nik Azman Abdul Majid is responding well to treatment and showing no adverse symptoms from the Covid-19 infection, said Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

“He is isolated and responding very well and is asymptomatic,” Noor Hisham told a press conference in Putrajaya today.

Azman had tested positive for the virus after attending a post-Cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin last week, resulting in the latter and other top officials undergoing a 14-day self-quarantine starting last Friday.

“As you know, all members of the post-Cabinet meeting have tested negative. The person (who tested positive) has been identified and has also been taken care of.

“We are monitoring closely… there were no symptoms; no fever, no running nose, no coughing.

“He is doing very well but has to comply (with continued treatment and quarantine),” said Noor Hisham.

He did not identify Azman in his press briefing but the Auditor-General’s Department on Saturday confirmed that the auditor-general tested positive for Covid-19.

Thirty-five government officials, including Muhyiddin, had attended the meeting in the Prime Minister’s Office last Thursday.

Among the civil servants undergoing self-quarantine now are Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Zuki Ali, Attorney-General Idrus Harun and Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission chief commissioner Azam Baki. – May 27, 2020.
