New infections drop to 15, with 42 recoveries and no deaths

Malaysia has recorded only 15 new Covid-19 cases in the past 24 hours after 2 consecutive days of triple digit increases. – The Malaysian Insight pic by Seth Akmal, May 27, 2020.

AFTER two consecutive days of recording new Covid-19 infections in the triple digits, Malaysia today recorded only 15 new cases.

The figure is the lowest on record since the movement control order was imposed on March 18. 

No deaths were reported over the past 24 hours, with the toll remaining at 115.

The total number of infections is 7,619, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah told a press conference in Putrajaya today.

He said there were six imported cases, with the remaining nine cases locally transmitted, while four of them involved foreigners.

There are currently 1,421 active cases.

Meanwhile, 42 people have recovered and have been discharged from hospital as of noon today.

This brings the total number of recoveries to 6,083, or 79.8% of total infections.

Noor Hisham said there are currently eight patients in intensive care, of which four are on respiratory support. – May 27, 2020.
