No interstate travel for audits and interviews, says minister

AUDITORS and those who need to conduct interviews are not allowed interstate travel as they are not part of essential services, said Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

He said, at the moment, interstate travel is only allowed for emergency cases that involve close relatives.

“Interstate travel is not allowed for auditors to check on company accounts as it is not part of emergency services.

“There is also no need to conduct face-to-face interviews. They can Skype, video conference and others,” he said at his daily press conference in Putrajaya today.

He was responding to companies that want to send their workers outstation to carry out auditing.

Yesterday, police set up 155 roadblocks between state borders nationwide and inspected 127,672 vehicles.

A total of 824 vehicles were stopped trying to cross borders to balik kampung and were ordered to turn back compared to 738 the previous day.

Police also arrested 136 individuals, of which 75 were detained and 61 individuals were convicted of flouting the CMCO.

Ismail Sabri also said the police issued compounds to 534 individuals for various offences under the CMCO.

Of the total, 266 compounds issued at the police station, 25 were for Hari Raya visits. Meanwhile, 268 compounds were issued in the field, of which 257 were at roadblocks. – May 27, 2020.
