HEALTH authorities have screened the residents and staff of 272 old folk’s homes for Covid-19, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today.
The tests detected 23 positive case, of which 13 were residents and the others staff and workers.
He advised volunteers at the homes to suspend work for the time being to prevent infection.
More than 80% of the infections detected at the homes for the elderly were asymptomatic,” he said.
Noor Hisham added that such homes, along with prisons and detention centres, where people were closely confined, were at high risk of infection. – May 23, 2020.
