Selangor sees most foiled attempts to balik kampung

MORE than 1,600 vehicles tried to cross state borders yesterday, ahead of Hari Raya tomorrow, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The defence minister said Selangor saw the most attempts at interstate travel, followed by Kedah and Penang.

“The state with the highest interstate travel attempts to balik kampung was Selangor with 329 cases, followed by Kedah, with 211 cases, and Penang, with 196 cases,” he said today at a daily press briefing on the Covid-19 response, in Putrajaya.

Ismail said those who had managed to slip through the police checkpoints would be nabbed on their return trip.

Police detained 39 individuals for breaching the conditional movement control order,” he said.

“Eighteen were remanded and 21 were compounded.” – May 23, 2020.
