Top civil servants in quarantine after meeting with infected officer

A FEW top civil servants have to stay in quarantine through the Raya celebration after coming into close contact with an official at the post-cabinet meeting on Thursday, who later tested positive for Covid-19.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin had tested negative after coming into contact with the same officer, and is on a two-week quarantine.

The meeting was held at the Prime Minister’s Office and all who attended have been ordered to undergo screening and be quarantined at home.

They include senior officers from the National Audit Department, Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) and Attorney-General’s Chambers.

Chief Secretary to the Government Mohd Zuki Ali, Attorney-General Idrus Harun, Auditor-General Nik Azman Nik Abdul Majid, who were also present at the meeting, are in quarantine.

“I can speak for myself. My result is negative but being a contact l have been placed under home quarantine for 14 days,” Idrus told Malaysiakini.

MACC chief Azam Baki also confirmed he was among those who attended the meeting.

“I have taken the swab test and am still waiting for the result.

“As per standard operating procedure, I will undergo the 14-day self-quarantine at home, “ Azam told The Star. – May 23, 2020.
