STAYING overnight at a relative’s place during Hari Raya Aidilfitri is not allowed, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

The defence minister reiterated Raya can only be celebrated on the first day, with no more than 20 people.

“Staying after 12am on the first day of Hari Raya is wrong. Our order is clear. Only celebrate Hari Raya on the first day. No one is allowed to go visiting on the second day.

“It is wrong to stay overnight,” the minister said during his daily media briefing today.

Ismail said the government does not recommend people to go out on Hari Raya to celebrate, adding that it was better to just stay home.

“We did not say you can’t go visiting, but we prefer that you stay home. That is the best option.

“However, if you must, only visit on the first day and practise social distancing,” he added.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin previously said the public are not allowed to return to their hometowns during the festive season.

Ismail also said that interstate travels are no longer allowed under the conditional movement-control order.
