POLICE will call up Kuala Langat MP Xavier Jayakumar over his allegedly seditious statement on Monday’s parliamentary sitting.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (prosecution/legal) deputy director Mior Faridalathrash Wahid said the former water, land and natural resources minister will be called up to facilitate investigations under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act 1948 and Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998.

“So far, we have received 33 reports on the matter, and a probe is being carried out,” he told Bernama.

The lawmaker on Monday commented on the single-day Dewan Rakyat meet, as well as the government, in a three-minute video clip.

Yesterday, Gerakan Aktivis Tuntut Malaysia lodged a report against Xavier at the Petaling Jaya police headquarters, saying he insulted Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah.

Wangsa Maju Bersatu also lodged a report on the same matter. – Bernama, May 20, 2020.

  • I knew this would happen! When I saw that video I knew it would be manipulated to look as if he was insulting His Majesty, when all he did was to emphasise what had been just a waste of time,

  • Its heartbreaking how quickly the old repression has resurfaced. Malaysians do not deserve to be treated with such arrogance and injustice.
