THE government has never rescinded the “work from home” directive despite the conditional movement control order (CMCO), said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.

Ismail was asked if the government had lifted the direction that was put in place when the MCO was first enforced on March 18 to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“The work from home order stays. We didn’t retract the order, but now some government agencies have been operating (in the office).

“Of this, only 80% of them come to office, the other 20% still work from home. This is because they could not find a place to send their kids while they are at work. Kindergartens or preschools are closed,” said the defence minister.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin previously said around six million people have returned to work under the CMCO.

“To date it is estimated that around 6.64 million or 43.6% of workers have returned to work. I am expecting this figure to increase in the coming weeks,” Muhyiddin said. – May 20, 2020.
