A TOTAL of 400 households in the bottom 40 group (B40) residing in the Lembah Subang People’s Housing Project today received food baskets through the Prihatin Poverty Eradication Foundation programme.
Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff presented the contributions, comprising a breaking-of-fast kit together with a food basket and a copy of the Quran, to the families affected by the implementation of the movement-control order (MCO) since March 18.
“During this holy month of Ramadan, Insya Allah (God willing) this aid is very meaningful for those in need and can be used especially during the MCO and in the near future,” she told reporters today.
Siti Zailah also hoped more civil society groups would come forward and assist the needy groups in the future.
The programme is also supported by other organisations such as Muslim Volunteer Malaysia, Social Welfare Department and Malaysia Youth Council volunteers.
The programme, which enters its fifth phase today, has benefitted 1,797 households since the MCO came into force. – Bernama, May 18, 2020.
