PRIME Minister Muhyiddin Yassin appeared to have majority support, albeit an extremely slim one, to go by the seating arrangement in the Dewan Rakyat sitting today.
According to the seating plan, there are 114 MPs aligned to Muhyiddin, which would give him a precarious majority of three, seven less than his predecessor Dr Mahathir Mohamad’s 10-seat majority in 2018.
However, Masir Kujat (PSB-Sri Aman) has clarified that he was wrongly assigned a seat on the government bench.
Confidence in Muhyiddin, however, will likely only be officially put to the test in July, when parliament convenes for the next sitting.
His challenger Dr Mahathir has filed to move a motion of confidence in the prime minister – an application that has been accepted by the Dewan speaker but which time did not permit to be tabled in today’s sitting.
Today’s seating plan showed 107 MPs on the opposition bench – Upko (1), Bersatu (5), Warisan (9), Amanah (11), PKR (39) and DAP (42).
Baru Bian (Independent-Selangau), one of the 11 PKR MPs who left Pakatan Harapan for the other side, appeared to be on the fence, seated as he was between the government and opposition benches. – May 18, 2020.

Moo's greatest fear by far?
UMNO abstentions.
They are just waiting to wipe out Bersatu.
Azmin's fatal mistake was moving into the DPM's office.
He is finished.
