59 new recoveries, 22 new infections

THE Covid-19 rate of recoveries now stands at 80.81% of the total number of cases, with 59 people having recovered and discharged from hospital as of noon today.

The 59 new cases have also brought the cumulative number of recoveries to 5,571, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah told his daily Covid-19 press conference today.

Meanwhile, 22 new infections were reported as of 12pm, taking the national toll to 6,894.

Of this, five cases were imported from overseas, whereas 17 were locally transmitted.

Nine out of the 17 local cases involved foreigners.

The number of active cases now stands at 1,210.

No deaths were reported today, with the toll remaining at 113. – May 17, 2020.
