EXPATRIATES and their dependents under the Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) programme who have been stuck overseas can return home tomorrow onwards, said Tourism, Arts and Culture Minister Nancy Shukri.

In a statement today, she said following the conditional movement control order (CMCO), Putrajaya had decided MM2H families can return to Malaysia.

She added those returning have to comply with the current quarantine conditions set by Putrajaya.

She said this included medical screening at the Kuala Lumpur international airport, followed by 14 days quarantine at designated facilities.

“They must also bear the accommodation cost at the quarantine stations.”

The decision comes after The Malaysian Insight had reported that some 200 MM2H visa holders had complained they were stuck abroad because of the MCO, which prohibits entry by foreigners into the country.

MM2H director Sharifah Ikhlas Syed Ismail Al-Jaffree had said these 200-odd expats are desperately seeking to return to Malaysia, adding that there may be more stuck overseas.

“According to our records, about 200 have requested (to come back to Malaysia), but we estimate there are more.”

MM2H Agents Association president Lim Kok Sai said those who have requested help to return are between 100 and 200 people, and their details have already been sent to the Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry.

“During the second phase of the MCO, around early April, the ministry asked about those holding MM2H visas expressing a desire to return to Malaysia.

“They include those who are now stuck in Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, and so on.” – May 16, 2020.
