THE government is considering special incentives for Covid-19 front-line volunteers, including Civil Defence Force and Rela personnel.

Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof said this is to show appreciation for their services and sacrifices.

“We value their services to the community, and will work something out for them soon,” he said on the Ruang Bicara programme on Bernama TV last night.

“Civil Defence Force members have been there in times of war, emergencies, accidents and catastrophes. Currently, they have 6,500 members, and there are about 100,000 volunteers in other organisations.”

He said Putrajaya has mobilised volunteers to assist the public in various ways, such as advising people on the “new normal” necessitated by the pandemic.

He added that Civil Defence Force members and other volunteers are trained to deal with disasters and emergencies.

“Almost 1,000 trained Civil Defence Force personnel have been deployed at quarantine centres, and their welfare and safety are well taken care of.” – Bernama, May 16, 2020.
