11 new cases from tabligh cluster, says Health D-G

THERE are 11 new Covid-19 cases from the Sri Petaling tabligh cluster, bringing the total to 2,364 cases from the group, said the Health Ministry today.

As of today, the total number of samples collected from the cluster is 38,411.

The Sri Petaling tabligh cluster was first discovered in March.

For the second biggest cluster – tahfiz schools and madrasah – the number of Covid-19 cases stands at 651.

“A total of 555 (85%) tested positive despite being asymptomatic while 96 had already developed symptoms,” said director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah in Putrajaya today.

He said the ministry has tested 13,288 out of 19,715 students and teachers from 370 schools.

On the markets cluster, Noor Hisham said 28,196 samples have been taken from the identified 36,130 individuals from 331 markets. The total number of positive cases stands at 258.

Meanwhile, Noor Hisham said the Pasir Gudang cluster has been closed with 15 positive cases and one death.

“On the other active clusters, there are 10 new cases from Kg Sg Lui, nine new cases from the Cheras security guard cluster, two new cases in Pudu and one each for the Pedas (Negri Sembilan) and Benus (Pahang) clusters.”

The number of new cases reported today were 36, bringing the total to 6,855, with 1,304 active cases. Fourteen patients are in ICU with five on ventilators.

The death toll remains at 112.

Meanwhile, there are three additional cases in the Selayang and Kuala Lumpur wholesale market area, where the enhanced MCO ended today.

The total number of cases there are 203, of which 87 are among foreign workers.

At the Jalan Othman market EMCO, there was an additional case, bringing the total to 21. – May 15, 2020.
