THE management of condominiums and apartments have been told to let in tenants returning from their home towns as there are no laws barring them from re-entering, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The defence minister said that he has received reports of such incidents after workers were allowed to return to cities during the one-way interstate travel period from May 7 to May 10.
“Many went back and were not allowed to return to their condominiums or apartments, and they had to rent another place while waiting for permission to go back to their homes.
“I call on the management of such condominiums and apartment to allow them to return. Don’t block them anymore,” he told his daily Covid-19 press conference in Putrajaya today.
“This (barring tenants) is not a directive from the government. All SOPs must be based on directives from the government,” he added.
Exemptions for crossing state borders were a temporary measure for those stuck in their home towns and villages to return to their homes in cities, such as Kuala Lumpur.
On another note, Ismail Sabri said married couples separated because of the movement control order (MCO) are now allowed to cross state borders to be with their families.
He said a Cabinet meeting today decided to allow separated couples to travel across state borders once a week to visit their families.
“However, those who intend to do so must report to the nearest police station,” Ismail Sabri said. β May 14, 2020.
