PAHANG, Penang and Malacca have recorded the highest rate of compliance to the conditional movement control order (CMCO) restrictions, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob today.

He said these three states recorded 98% compliance with the CMCO. He said the lowest rate of compliance was 86%, but declined to name the state.

“The CMCO compliance rate across the country is at an average of 95%.

“Pahang, Penang and Malacca had the highest compliance rate of 98%, while the lowest state compliance rate was 86%.

“So, this brings the CMCO compliance rate across the country to an average of 95% overall,” he told his daily briefing on Covid-19 security issues.

Ismail Sabri, however, said he regarded the 5% of population not complying with the CMCO as a high number.

He said that yesterday, police only arrested one individual for breaching the CMCO, but warned that the authorities will be stricter from now on.

“As I said yesterday, the police will no longer advise or warn people. They will now take action on those who breach the CMCO and fail to follow SOP.

“If they adhere to it, then there is no need for the police to arrest, compound or charge them in court,” he said.

On a separate issue, Ismail said that to date, 32,692 Malaysians have returned home and that 14,492 are currently undergoing mandatory quarantine. – May 13, 2020.
