THE enhanced movement control order (EMCO) in northern Kuala Lumpur and areas around the wholesale market ends today, said Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said the EMCO in Selayang Baru and Gombak will be reviewed in a few days.
“The EMCO in northern KL and in the KL wet market area ends today.
“As for Selayang Baru and Gombak, the Health Ministry needs to perform more screening that might take two to three days.
“After the test ended, the government will decide if the EMCO is lifted or extended,” Ismail Sabri said in his daily press conference this afternoon.
On April 20, Ismail Sabri declared northern Kuala Lumpur, including areas around the Selayang wholesale market, were placed under EMCO.
Eight parcels of land in the area will be under total lockdown to enable tracing and testing of people there for Covid-19 infections, he had said.
On April 28, Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 28 positive Covid-19 cases and one fatality had been registered in northern KL.
A total of 2,064 samples were taken from residents in the area. – May 12, 2020.
