SOCIALISING during the coming Hari Raya, Pesta Kaamatan and Hari Gawai is confined to immediate family and neighbours, said Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin.
Muhyiddin advised the public to practise social distancing while visiting family members.
“However, they must practise social distancing and must not have more than 20 people in the same house at the same time.
“Make sure you make limited contact and make sure the house is clean. Wear your face mask all the time and use hand sanitisers,” said Muhyiddin during his special address to the nation today.
Meanwhile, Muhyiddin said the government will allow married couples who live separately to travel between states to meet each other during the festive season.
The prime minister said he was briefed that many husbands and wives have not seen their partners since the movement-control order (MCO) was imposed in March.
“We will allow married couples to move between states to see each other. I was informed that many of them are living separately due to work. For instance, the husband is working in Perlis while his wife is working in Johor.
“They have not seen each other and also have not seen their children for two months since the MCO was imposed.
“Married couples who wish to perform interstate travel can do so by applying through the Gerak Malaysia mobile phone application or by submitting a form at the police station,” Muhyiddin said.
The Gerak Malaysia app can be downloaded on Google Playstore or App Store.
Gerak Malaysia also allows authorities to track the user to aid in contact tracing to contain the spread of Covid-19.
On May 7, the police allowed the public who had registered with Gerak Malaysia to return home from their hometowns. – May 10, 2020.
