AN estate supervisor lodged a police report after he came across a tiger drinking from a river near an oil palm plantation at Felda Chini Timur 4, Pekan, Pahang yesterday.

Pekan district police chief Mohd Razli Mohd Yusof said the 29-year-old supervisor claimed that the incident happened at 11.30am while he, along with 16 other workers, were harvesting oil palm fruits.

“He claimed to have heard growls. Upon seeing the tiger, he reported the matter to the plantation manager,” he said when contacted today.

Razli said the supervisor, along with a representative from the management office later returned to the scene on a four-wheel-drive to snap a picture of the tiger as evidence for the police report.

However, they failed to locate the tiger, although the supervisor said that growls could still be heard, prompting the group of workers to leave the area for their own safety. – Bernama, May 8, 2020.
