Covid-19 recoveries double new infections

SEVENTY-FOUR Covid-19 recoveries were recorded in the last 24 hours, nearly double the number of new cases, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The director-general of health said there are 39 new infections, bringing the national tally to 6,467.

Of the fresh cases, 30 are foreigners.

Malaysia’s coronavirus death toll stays 107 as no new fatalities were registered today.

Dr Noor Hisham said there has been an increase of eight cases in northern Kuala Lumpur, with one case outside the area’s enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) zone.

This brings the area’s total infections to 189, of which 81 are outside the lockdown zone.

The health chief added that “115 foreigners have tested positive, with one death”.

“As for Selayang Baru, there are no new cases. The total stands at 52, of whom 36 are foreigners.”

He said 30,050 people who returned from overseas between April 3 and yesterday have been quarantined.

“Of the total, 16,520 have completed their 14-day quarantine, and 334 tested positive.”

He said 360 madrasah and tahfiz schools have been identified for testing, with “16,550 students, teachers and staff registered, and 9,423 having been screened”.
