MALAYSIA Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has updated its standard operating procedure with the inclusion of health measures to ensure passengers’ safety as domestic air travel resumes amid the Covid-19 crisis.

People are now required to wear masks when entering terminal buildings, failing which, they will be denied entry, said the airport operator in a statement today.

“With the resumption of some domestic flight routes, we are expecting an increase in passengers in the coming weeks.

“We would like to remind passengers to adhere to the safety measures enforced at all our airports,” said MAHB, adding that it will help the Health Ministry conduct tests at Kuala Lumpur International Airport.

The company said it has limited entry and exit points at KLIA, where an aviation security team will take passengers’ temperature and ensure compliance with the rule on masks, as well as klia2.

It said only passengers with a valid flight ticket or boarding pass will be granted entry into terminals, and “meeters and greeters” are not allowed inside.

“All departing passengers have to undergo temperature screening before they are allowed to enter the terminal building.

“Passengers with a body temperature higher than 37.5°C won’t be allowed to continue their journey.”

MAHB said a 1m distance between individuals must be observed at all times in terminal buildings.

It gave an assurance that disinfection works have been carried out at its airports since the Covid-19 outbreak began.

“Just last week, KLIA underwent a full disinfection exercise by the Fire and Rescue Department.” – Bernama, May 5, 2020.
