THREE more areas in the capital were today placed under an enhanced movement control order (EMCO).

Jalan Raja Bot, near the Chow Kit Market, and two housing estates – Taman Desa Bakti and Taman Wilayah – in Selayang are the three places in lockdown.

Army personnel were seen late yesterday night putting up razor wire barricades in those areas.

The office of Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa confirmed the areas are in lockdown.

The EMCO comes as virus containment measures were relaxed yesterday with nearly all industries given the green light to start work.

Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob has said that the MCO would henceforth be applied locally in the areas with virus outbreaks.

Meanwhile, the EMCO in four areas in Selayang and northern Kuala Lumpur, which was to have ended yesterday, has been extended to May 12.

The four areas still in lockdown are Taman Sri Murni Fasa 2, Jalan 1/2D; Taman Sri Murni Fasa 1, Jalan 1/2D; Taman Sri Murni Fasa 3, Jalan 1/2B; and Taman Batu View and Taman Batu Hampar.

Also in Selayang,  the lockdown order was lifted in Jalan 2/3A, Jalan 6/3A and Jalan 9/3A in Pusat Bandar Utara.

The EMCO also ended on Sunday for the Malaya and Selangor Mansions, Menara City One, and the Masjid India area.
