THE management of Kenanga Wholesale City (KWC) today said the massive queue outside the mall depicted in social media pictures were of mall employees.
KWC advertising and promotions assistant manager Wendy Lam said the mall was required to take the workers’ temperature and note their health details when they clocked in.
“They were workers at the mall. The queue was because we were taking the temperature and recording their details. We had to take individual details.
“We were complying with the procedure set out by the government,” she told The Malaysian Insight.
Photos of people queuing outside the mall were circulated on social media today.
Police were also spotted at the scene.
Lam said the management had explained the cause of the queue to the police.
She said the employees arrived at 9am and the process of taking their temperature and health information was concluded by noon.

She said customers and mall tenants were also required to undergo the same checks at the door.
She said that the management would ensure that social distancing is observed when this is carried out.
“We do this for both customers and shop workers because it is a way to know if the person is safe, and if anything happens, we can trace them through the details (we have noted down).
“All those entering the mall will have their temperature checked and be given hand sanitiser to apply, they must wear a face-mask and ensure social distancing,” she said.
The conditional movement control order (CCMO) comes into effect today, allowing nearly all economic sectors to open for business.
