PUBLIC-TRANSPORT users must follow all standard operating procedures as advised by the Health Ministry during the conditional movement control order (CMCO) period, Transport Minister Wee Ka Siong said today.

Operators have been given a set of guidelines to follow and adhere to, he said, including checking commuters’ temperature and making masks compulsory.

“Apart from social distancing, when everyone enters an MRT station, their temperature will be checked. Anyone who does not pass this check, will not be allowed to take the public transport.

“After taking temperature, we will give hand sanitiser.

“We also request everyone using public transport to use masks as this helps to avoid the spread of virus,” he told reporters today visiting the Bukit Bintang MRT station.

Today is the first day people are allowed to go to work under the CMCO.

Wee said operators will provide disposable masks for the first two days of the CMCO.

“Although it is not compulsory by law but as a prerequisite, we ask commuters to wear masks.

“If they don’t have it, we have asked our operators to give them disposable masks, maybe for the first one or two days.”

Seats and frequently touched surfaces will also be sanitised regularly. – May 4, 2020.
