NOT all business outlets in the Selangor will be allowed to resume operations as the conditional movement-control order (CMCO) begins tomorrow, said Menteri Besar Amirudin Shaari.

According to news reports, Amirudin said the state is reviewing the level of preparedness of local authorities to handle the matter.

The state government will discuss the CMCO enforcement and necessary guidelines with local authorities to ensure that there is no spike in Covid-19 cases.

“I need to know how many enforcers are under the local authorities. This is because they need to oversee how food outlets operate.

“This does not include the Shah Alam Lake Garden yet. I am not sure how many thousands of people will (visit the attraction), so we need to make sure how to enforce monitoring in the area.

“All of this needs to be detailed and cannot be decided and completed in a day.”

Meanwhile, Kedah will not proceed with the implementation of the CMCO for the time being as the state security working committee is set to decide on the matter on Tuesday.

Menteri Besar Mukhriz Mahathir said this is to ensure that the state remains a green zone and to protect Kedah folk against Covid-19.

“The safety and welfare of the people will not be compromised. For the time being, continue to stay at home and practise social distancing,” he said.

Kedah is the second state after Sarawak to not go ahead with reopening their economic sectors.

Deputy Chief Minister Douglas Uggah said Sarawak will maintain the status quo on directives and standard operating procedures given to industries and businesses approved to operate under the first, second and third phases of the MCO. – May 3, 2020.
