69 new Covid-19 infections, 1 dead

MORE new local Covid-19 cases were reported today, 57 out of the total 69, bringing the overall number of cases to 6,071, said Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

Noor Hisham also said 39 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital in the past 24 hours.

A 66-year-old Malaysian cancer patient died of Covid-19 yesterday, he added, raising the total number of Malaysian fatalities to 103.

Noor Hisham said no new cases were reported at the Menara City One condominium, where previously, 55 tested positive. Out of those, 41 are foreigners, with one death of a Malaysian. 

“In Selangor Mansion, there are no new cases with a total of 168 positive cases, and out of those, 151 are foreigeners.

“In Malayan Mansion, there are no new cases  where there were 12 cases, and out of those, 10 foreigners tested positive.”

He said, however, there was an increase in the number of cases at Selayang market to three, bringing the total to 86 cases. 

Nineteen cases were from ouside EMCO areas while 62 foreigners tested positive and one local died. 

In Selayang Baru, there was an increase of 17 cases, bringing the total there to 28 cases. 

Noor Hisham said that 14 of them are foreigners who tested positive for the virus. – May 1, 2020.
