THOSE who wish to send food to residents living under the enhanced movement control order must get authorisation at the district operation management centre, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
The defense minister said officers there will distribute the food to the needy.
“In some cases, if you go directly to each house, some received extra food aid while some did not receive any. So this will avoid such incidents. The best way is to let the centre distribute the items so everyone will receive a fair share,” he said at his daily press conference.
Ismail Sabri was asked if it was okay for individuals to pass food or aid through barbed wire fences in neighbourhoods under the EMCO.
It was previously reported that Gombak district police chief Arifai Tarawe had barred residents in Selayang Baru from giving or receiving goods through the barbed-wire fence without permission from the authorities.
“Outsiders cannot pass any item through the barbed-wire fences themselves. They must go through the police for us to check what items they want to hand over to the residents, or vice versa, under the EMCO.
“We have to check the contents before they are delivered as we do not want them to pass something which is not allowed,” he said on Tuesday.
Areas under EMCO are Selayang Baru in Gombak, Selangor, and Selangor Mansion, Malayan Mansion and Menara Plaza City One in downtown Kuala Lumpur.
