EVEN after the movement control order ends, it is unlikely schools can immediately be reopened, said the Health Ministry, so focus has been on the economic sector first.

“We suggested to start the economic sector first.

“The social and education sectors will be looked at later. Let’s allow the economic sector to move first and monitor the progress for 2-4 weeks before we decide on the social and education (sectors),” Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah told his daily Covid-19 briefing in Putrajaya today.

Noor Hisham was responding a question on when schools will be reopened following the relaxation of restrictions on the economic sector today.

Today marks the sixth week, or the start of the fourth phase, of the MCO, which began on March 18.

Yesterday, the International Trade and Industry Ministry said non-essential businesses that were allowed to operate during the earlier MCO periods will be permitted to operate at 100% capacity from today onwards.

Among the industries are the manufacturing and construction sectors.

According to the government, it is still reviewing the standard operating procedures (SOP) for other sectors. – April 29, 2020.

  • Please reconsider. How do parents go to work if kids are at home? Children least likely to get infected.

  • H. Moktar... You are wrong. Children are also equally easy to get infected. Just that they are less symptomatic and less severe when infected . Therefore, it's more likely they will become the silent spreader in school, nusery and day-care and spread to the elderly and killed them. So it is indeed the right thing to keep them home first. Don't be a selfish parents that want others to take care of your child and cause more family clusters.
