THE Health Ministry confirmed 94 new Covid-19 cases today, of which 72 are imported, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

The director-general of health said the imported cases are from students and Malaysians who had returned from Indonesia.

“The number of local transmissions is 22,” he said. 

The number of new cases today brings the overall total in Malaysia to 5,945.

At the same time, 55 patients have recovered and discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries to 4,087 cases, or 68.75% of the overall number.

“The number of active cases is 1,758,” he said. 

A total of 40 patients are still being treated in the intensive care unit, with 18 needing respiratory assistance, added Noor Hisham.

There are no deaths reported as of today, keeping the death toll at 100.

The number of new cases has largely been below 90 since April 17 – between 36 and 88 new cases daily. 

With the exception of today, there have been more recoveries than new cases in the past week. – April 29, 2020.
