A HUNDRED and fifty-four of the 238 squatters arrested in Kuala Kubu Baru yesterday will be charged with flouting the movement control order today, police said.

Selangor Criminal Investigation Department chief Fadzil Ahmat told The Malaysian Insight that they will be charged at the Kuala Kubu Baru court today.

“The deputy public prosecutor has agreed to charge 154 individuals for breaking the MCO,” he said.

Police yesterday arrested 238 people in a raid on an illegal settlement in Kg Ulu Rening, Batang Kali, Kuala Kubu Baru.

In the 5pm operation, officers rounded men, women and children, including babies, living in tents in a newly cleared area of the forest.

He said the squatters are from several states and claimed to be members of Dewan Perkasa Ekonomi Islam Nusantara.

He added that they had violated the MCO and they came from various places, like Kuala Lumpur, Kelantan and other states.

The group will also undergo health screenings at Dewan Serbaguna Kuala Kubu Baru, where they are temporarily housed. – April 29, 2020.
