Cop accused of rape to face human trafficking charges tomorrow

A POLICE officer accused of raping two foreign detainees will be arraigned tomorrow on human trafficking charges.

Petaling Jaya police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said the officer would be charged under the Anti-Trafficking in Persons and Anti-Smuggling of Migrants (Atipsom) Act.

On the rape allegations, he said police have completed a probe into the two Mongolian women’s claims.

“The investigation papers filed under Section 376 of the Penal Code for rape have been handed over to the public prosecutor,” he said.

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Huzir Mohamed has stated that the suspect is under investigation for human trafficking as well as rape.

On April 11, police rescued two Mongolian women, ages 20 and 37, in a hotel in Petaling Jaya. The women said they were raped by a police inspector in the hotel after they were arrested at a roadblock.

The 30-year-old suspect was detained for seven days to assist in investigations. – April 28, 2020.
