IT is not true that food baskets are distributed only to B40 households in selected parliamentary constituencies, the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry said. 

Minister Rina Mohd Harun said the distribution was based on applications received through 108 Social Welfare Department offices nationwide.

“During this critical period, we receive applications from MPs as well as various parties, including mosque committees, village heads, individuals and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) through Talian Kasih,” she told reporters after distributing in Tanjung Malim today.

She was commenting on allegations by Ipoh Barat MP M. Kula Segaran that households in his constituency have yet to receive the promised 1,000 food baskets.

Rina said more than 360,000 food baskets have been distributed to about two million Malaysians.

She said this effort would be carried out as long as the movement control order is in force. – Bernama, April 27, 2020.
