THE Petaling Jaya Tmn Megah morning market is temporarily closed after a vegetable seller tested positive for Covid-19.

Bandar Utama assemblyman Jamaliah Jamaluddin said her office received a report of a person at the market who was infected.

“For now the market has been closed temporarily and the Petaling Jaya City Council (MBPJ) is carrying out a disinfection and sanitisation operation in the market. 

“The rest of the market vendors there have been advised to have themselves tested for Covid-19 at the hospital,” she wrote on Facebook today.

Jamaliah said her office has yet to receive further information on the matter which came under the purview of the Health Ministry (MoH).

“Any further directives that may be necessary will be issued by the MoH. 

“Currently, the family and persons close to the patient are being interviewed and may be sent to be tested at the hospital if needed.”

She said regular customers at the market are also advised to submit to tests for Covid-19, especially those who have a fever, cough and flu-like-symptoms.

Yesterday, director-general of health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said 99 patients had recovered and been discharged from hospital, exceeding the 51 new cases reported.

He said there were two deaths, bringing the death toll to 98. – April 26, 2020.
