50 new Covid-19 cases, 1 dead

MALAYSIA today reported 50 new Covid-19 cases, the sixth consecutive day of double-digit infections, although more people have been discharged from the hospital, said Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

He said with today’s cases, total Covid-19 infections now stands at 5,532.

He added 103 patients have recovered, taking the total of people discharged to 3,452.

Noor Hisham said 43 patients are in intensive care, 25 of them on respirators.

He said one victim have succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours, bring the death toll to 93.

The victim was a 72-year-old woman who had cancer and high blood pressure.

She was admitted to Sarawak General Hospital on April 20 and died today at 9.15am. – April 22, 2020.
