TERENGGANU Umno liaison committee chairman Ahmad Said will have his statement recorded today for allegedly breaking the movement-control order (MCO) by meeting Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar last Friday.

State police chief Roslee Chik confirmed the matter, adding that the police will also record the statement of other individuals who were present at Ahmad’s home.

“We are getting Ahmad Said’s statement today. This includes everyone who was at his house last Friday,” said Roslee when contacted.

Photographs of the former Terengganu menteri besar meeting Ahmad Samsuri at his residence in Teluk Kalong, Kemaman went viral a few days ago.

It was reported that the meeting took place at Ahmad Said’s home, where the others present were reportedly preparing food aid to be distributed to the poor.

Yesterday, police recorded Ahmad Samsuri’s statement at the police state headquarters about 4pm yesterday.

Ahmad Said, meanwhile, had told Berita Harian the others present were volunteers who helped deliver food aid to the poor and should not be punished.

“Punish me if I am found guilty, but not the volunteers who worked hard to help deliver aid to the poor,” he was quoted as saying. – April 20, 2020.
