KUALA Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) will return deposits collected from Ramadan bazaar traders unable to operate this year due to the movement control order (MCO), said Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.

“DBKL will refund the deposits for Ramadan bazaars,” said Ismail Sabri during his daily press briefing.

Yesterday, Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa said the National Security Council cancelled any form of Ramadan bazaar.

Only food delivery services using e-hailing platforms are allowed to send food to customers.

The decision was made “after considering various factors and the current situation”, Annuar said.

“After deliberating on the matter, and after hearing the views of the police and health officials, the council decided there would be no public gatherings at all, even the alternative forms,” he added.

Prime Minister Muhyiddin Yassin on Monday said Ramadan bazaars would not be able to go ahead, citing the MCO, which is due to end on April 28, five days into the fasting month.

The PM said the decision was final, even though the Federal Territories Ministry was preparing to unveil a plan for e-bazaar sites. – April 17, 2020.
