INDEPENDENT food delivery riders in towns and rural areas are allowed to operate during the fasting month, said Senior Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
Such services are not limited to bigger companies, which tend to not cover outlying areas.
“I would like to make it clear, all food delivery companies in the country can operate during Ramadan.
“For independent delivery riders in towns or rural areas, they, too, are allowed to deliver food,” Ismail Sabri told a daily press briefing on Covid-19 security issues in Putrajaya this afternoon.
However, he urged riders to undergo health checks.
“My advice to them is, do have a check-up. You can go to any government or private hospital.”
Yesterday, he told the media that food delivery services provided by e-hailing companies are allowed to continue during Ramadan, which is set to begin next week.
The movement-control order (MCO) to curb the spread of Covid-19 is in its third phase, which will run till April 28.
Even if the MCO ends as scheduled, the government has banned Ramadan bazaars, including e-bazaars, to prevent mass movements and gatherings. – April 17, 2020.
