THE spread of infections in the Sarawak church cluster is under control as of now, hence it does not warrant the enforcement of an enhanced movement control order (EMCO), said director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

“As of now this cluster is under control, hence we won’t enforce an EMCO but the procedures are the same for Peninsula and Sarawak,” he said at the daily press conference today.

He added that the ministry was also tracing the index case as well as close contacts of the church cluster.

Unlike the tabligh cluster from Masjid Jamek Sri Petaling, the ministry has records of the attendees of the church conference.

“We have the list of names, who they are and where they live. We can track them and we are doing active case detection and testing,” he said.

“As of now we feel this cluster is under control and tracing is ongoing. There are no new developments,” he added.

There are thus far 117 cases in this cluster, of which 100 are active.

Meanwhile, 14 people have recovered while three have died.

Noor Hisham today said Malaysia has 85 new cases, while it has also discharged 169 patients – almost double the number of new cases reported.

This brings the total recoveries to 2,647, which translates to 52.2% of the total number of cases.

Meanwhile, the number of new cases reported today brings total infections to 5,072.

One more person died today, taking the death toll to 83. – April 15, 2020.
