A DEATH at a PKNS housing block in Kg Baru has prompted mass testing of the residents in the area for Covid-19, said Director-General of Health Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.
He said district health officials were performing the tests
“One death occurred yesterday linked to the PKNS flats. Therefore, we are carrying out active case detection in the area, basically in the vicinity,” he said.
“Rest assured, our district health office is taking action.”
In the areas under enhanced movement control, Dr Noor Hisham said there were 10 new cases in Kluang, nine in Hulu Langat, and 33 in the Menara City One and Selangor Mansion buildings in Jalan Masjid India.
Meanwhile, cases that tested “weak positive” for Covid-19 were less likely to be infectious, he said.
“There are two or three cases where they have tested positive after they tested negative and were discharged, but it is a weak positive that is in the stage of virus shedding,” he said, adding that the chances of a patient being reinfected were very low.
The Health Ministry today reported 153 new infections and three deaths in the last 24 hours.
Total cases now stand at 4,683 and the death toll is 76. – April 12, 2020.
