A BARBERS’ and hairstylists’ group does not agree with Putrajaya’s move to allow them to resume services during the movement-control order (MCO), Free Malaysia Today reports.
The portal quoted Selangor and Federal Territories Indian Hairstylists’ Association chairman Ganathiban Murugan, who said the move was unwise as barbers have to come into close contact with customers.
“It is the wrong time. When we want to work, we should work without fear.”
Ganathiban told FMT that measures can be implemented such as only serving one customer at a time and wearing personal protective equipment (PPE) like doctors, but wondered whether these could be implemented successfully.
Putrajaya yesterday extended the MCO, due to end on April 14, by another two weeks to April 28.
The government also said some services will be allowed to operate, including barbers but only for haircuts.
Businesses allowed to operate must first obtain written approval from the International Trade and Industry Ministry and also abide by health and safety rules against the Covid-19 virus. – April 11, 2020.
