SELANGOR remains the state with the highest number of Covid-19 cases in the country at 1,078, including 58 cases from yesterday, according to the Health Ministry.

This is followed by Kuala Lumpur with 685 cases, Johor (496), Sarawak (306) and Sabah (248).

In Selangor, Hulu Langat recorded 345 cases as of yesterday, followed by Petaling (306), Klang (123), Gombak (111) and Sepang (46). These are all red zones in the state.

Sepang in Selangor became a red zone yesterday after an overnight spike of seven cases pushed its total of Covid-19 infections from 39 to 46.

The state made up nearly a quarter of the 4,119 Covid-19 cases nationwide.

In Kuala Lumpur, Lembah Pantai recorded 412 cases, followed by Kepong (105), Titiwangsa (95) and Cheras 59. All four health districts are in the red zone.

Kuantan is the latest district in the red zone, with 43 cases. With this, there are now 24 red zones in Malaysia.

There are no new cases in Kelantan, Perlis and Labuan.

Putrajaya is expected to announce by tomorrow whether to extend the movement-control order, which has been in effect since March 18 until April 14.

Defence Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob earlier this week said the National Security Council is studying the possibility of introducing additional restrictions to red zones. β€“ April 9, 2020.
