145 out of 4,119 virus cases in Malaysia involve foreign nationals

ONLY 145 out of 4,119 Covid-19 cases in Malaysia involved foreigners, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

“In the first wave of 22, there were 16 Chinese nationals and one American. But in the second wave, 95% of those infected were Malaysians,” the Health director-general told the daily Covid-19 press briefing in Putrajaya today.

At the briefing, he also announced the death of a Pakistan national aged 69.

The patient, categorised as case No. 1,906, had a history of diabetes and attended the tabligh gathering in Sri Petaling.

He was admitted to Kuala Lumpur Hospital on March 22 and died at 9.30am today.

There were two more deaths as of 12pm today, taking the total number of fatalities in Malaysia to 65.

There were also 156 new infections, but the number of recoveries today exceeded that, at 166.

That puts the total number of recoveries at 1,487 against a total of 4,119 infections. – April 8, 2020.
