THE Health Ministry is satisfied with the progress of Covid-19 screenings in Simpang Renggam following the enforcement of an enhanced movement-control order (EMCO) in the area two weeks ago.

Health Director-General Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said four more new cases were detected in the area, near Kluang in Johor.

The new cases raise the total number of infections there to 174.

“The EMCO in Kluang is encouraging and has achieved its targets for the past two weeks. This is a positive development,” Noor Hisham said.

Simpang Renggam was the first area in the country to come under more stringent movement restrictions. The area’s EMCO is scheduled to end tomorrow.

Noor Hisham, however, did not say if the EMCO in Simpang Renggam will be lifted after it ends tomorrow.

In Bandar Baru Ibrahim Majid, also in Kluang, he said there are now 137 cases, an increase of 4 cases.
