THE Federal Territories Ministry today said there will be no Ramadan bazaars in Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Federal Territories Minister Annuar Musa said drive-through, pre-order and e-hailing delivery food will be introduced instead.

“To enable residents in Federal Territories to get their meals as well assisting the hawkers affected by this cancellation, the ministry has introduced the three concepts of selling food and drinks.

“We will select several areas in the city and the mechanism on how we are going to carry this programme out,” he said during the ministry’s Facebook live today.

He said traders can register for the new-model bazaar from April 13 to 19.

“We have allocated 5,000 slots for those who want to register for all three concepts.”

He said the drive-through bazaar could be situated at the Bukit Jalil stadium where the stalls will be lined up 20 meters apart.

On the pre-order food items, he said the public can pre-order and pay for food online.

“They can then collect the food from a designated location.”

Annuar said traders will be registered with Food Panda, Grab Food and others for delivery.

“The ministry will coordinate together with the company that offers this e-hailing service. It is expected that over 20,000 e-hailing staff will be involved.”

Annuar said the ministry is fine tuning all three concepts. – April 8, 2020.
