IT will take another 10 days to screen all 6,000 residents of Selangor Mansion and Malayan Mansion for Covid-19, said Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

“We are doing active case detection and screening. It will take around 10 days to decontaminate the area and screen the residents,” said the health director-general during his daily press briefing in Putrajaya today.

The two flats – well known for its foreign residents, especially from India – were put under an enhanced movement-control order (MCO) today after 15 Covid-19 infections were detected among its residents.

Under the enhanced MCO, residents are not allowed to leave their flats, and all businesses have been ordered closed.

The two flats are located about 600m from Menara City One, which was placed under enhanced MCO last week.

Other areas under lockdown are Simpang Renggam and Hulu Langat, after a spike in Covid-19 cases there.

However, unlike the two-week enhanced MCO imposed on the other places, there is no timeframe in place for Selangor Mansion and Malaya Mansion, and could run even beyond April 14.

Another 170 patients nationwide tested positive for Covid-19 today, bringing the total number of positive cases to 3,963.

At the same time, 80 patients have recovered and were discharged, taking the total number of recoveries to 1,321.

As at noon today, one more death was recorded, taking the number of deaths in the country to 63 or 1.59% of all the cases. – April 7, 2020.
